Schock Boats keeps it in the family

NEWPORT BEACH — Schock Boats has announced the well-known waterfront boat dealership founded by W.D. “Bill” Schock has transitioned to new family ownership, with Steve and Ruth Schock taking the helm. Former proprietors Scott and Marie Schock, after years of strong, customer service-oriented leadership, will retire from day-to-day activity and transition into an advisory role for the company.

Under this motivated new leadership, Schock Boats, which has represented Grady-White Boats in Southern California since 1988, now sells new model Grady-Whites exclusively. Schock Boats will continue to offer Grady-White used boats as well, plus used boats of other premium brands, and will continue to provide award-winning service for all products it has sold over the years. The company will also continue its long and productive association with Yamaha Outboards as well as provide parts and service for Mercury outboards.

Schock Boats currently has one of the largest inventories of fishing-and-family boats in all of California, according to the company.

The new owners are planning fishing tournaments, demo days, and initiating “Taco Tuesdays,” a once-a-month event for casual interaction between those in the Grady-White–Schock Boats community.

“Our mission is to provide the best possible customer service, allowing our customers to enjoy boating with the least amount of problems, and that’s why Grady-White fits our mold perfectly,” said Ruth Schock. “Grady-White offers a terrific selection of 26 models–the most complete line of safe, sure, big water-capable boats in the industry. There’s one for every Southern California boating family, from the nine 18-to 37-foot versatile dual console Freedom models, to eight 18- to 37-foot center consoles, two Coastal Explorer models at 19 feet and 25 feet, and seven 20- to 37-foot walkaround or express cabin styles.”

Schock Boats is located on the water in Newport Beach’s Cannery Village at 2900 Lafayette Road. Schock is a one-stop boating shop with a complete ship’s store and a trained service department, offering customers everything they need in boat sales, service, parts sales, brokerage, storage, fiberglass repair, boat detailing and electronics installations.

Grady-White, located in Greenville, NC, was founded in 1959 and has been under private ownership since 1968. The company has been historically recognized for top-ranking excellence in customer satisfaction in every third-party study ever done in the marine industry including eight category-topping customer satisfaction rankings by J.D. Power and Associates, and fourteen consecutive National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) CSI awards.
