“Hospice care really touches everybody at some point in life,” said Janet Bessent, Oceanside YC commodore and chair person for the regatta. “It provides care for terminally ill patients, support for the family to help you through a tragic event that may have occurred.”

Bessent has been involved with the regatta since its inception and it continues to hold special meaning to her and fellow club members.

“We have really had a positive response from the boating community,” she said,” because there is always someone who has used hospice care.”

The Elizabeth Hospice has provided hospice care to adults and children in the San Diego and South Riverside counties since 1978 regardless of their ability to pay.
