Athletes to compete in 2015 Catalina Island Triathlon

AVALON — Runners, swimmers and bicyclists will experience Catalina Island in a new way by participating in the annual Catalina Island Triathlon Nov. 7.
Triathlon events include a half-mile swim, 17k bike and 3.1-mile run. Duathlon racers will run 3.1 miles, bike 17K and run 3.1 miles again. There is also a 5K run/walk option for non-tri-athletes.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each division, as well as to the overall top male, female and relay team finishers.
A mandatory meeting will be held at 8:15 a.m. Nov. 7 at Wrigley Stage. Packet pick up begins at 7:30 a.m.
