Avalon Ball pays tribute to the 1920s and 1930s

AVALON — The 12th annual Avalon Ball, scheduled for May 17, will take guests back to the glitz and glamour of the roaring 1920s and the 1930s during an evening of dancing and dining.

Hosted by the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, guests will enjoy a return to the Jazz Age as they dance under the chandeliers of the historic Catalina Casino Ballroom from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Dean Mora and his Avalon Ball Orchestra will play hits from the bygone era, as dancers move to the sounds on the Casino Ballroom’s 10,000-square-foot circular dance floor. Attendees will enjoy the ocean breezes after a night of dancing under the Tiffany chandeliers

The Avalon Ball Weekend is more than just the ball itself. The next day, great silent comedy films will be screened at the Avalon Theater, starting at 1 p.m., during the Catalina Island Museum Benefit Film Festival.
