ORANGE COUNTY
Dana Point Harbor
June 19 • 4:56 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report that two personal watercraft collided near Hole in the Fence Beach, injuring one rider and causing significant damage to one PWC. The injured operator was transported by medics to a San Clemente hospital.

Newport Harbor
June 21 • 1:07 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a boat that had lost a through-hull valve and was taking on water fast. A bottom-cleaning diver was contacted and plugged the through-hull. Bilge pumps were operating, and the boat was escorted to a local shipyard.
June 23 • 5:39 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report that a rental pontoon boat collided with three other boats in the Balboa Coves area, and allegedly kept on cruising. A boater reportedly followed the pontoon boat to a waterfront restaurant and informed officers of its whereabouts. Sunset/Huntington Harbour June 21 • 8:22 p.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report stating juveniles in a waterfront backyard were shooting at passing boats and birds with an air gun. The parents were notified and warned.
June 24 • 8:22 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a 10-foot inflatable boat speeding at 20 mph, going up and down the main channel.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Long Beach Harbor
June 7 • 8:30 a.m.
Long Beach Police Boat 1 responded to a report at Cerritos Bahia Marina of a dead body floating in the water near the Pacific Coast Highway overpass. Officers assisted the coroner with the death investigation, and police divers recovered evidence from the scene.
June 17 • 10 a.m. Long Beach Police Boat 1 responded to a report at the Federal Breakwater, outside Queens Gate, of two divers whose 16-foot aluminum skiff was swamped due to high surf. Signal flares were shot off, and Long Beach Lifeguard Rescue Boat 2 and Police Boat 1 arrived on the scene. Long Beach Lifeguard Rescue Boat 2 took the swamped vessel in tow, and Long Beach Police Boat 1 removed the divers from the rocks and retrieved their gear.
June 24 • 8 a.m. Long Beach Police Boat 1 came across a disabled 30-foot sportfisher in danger of running aground, off the east end of the Federal Breakwater. Police Boat 1 took the vessel in tow, out of danger, before passing the vessel off to a commercial assistance provider.

VENTURA COUNTY
Channel Islands Harbor

June 1 • 3:30 p.m. Channel Islands Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 27-foot vessel taking on water in its slip at a private marina. The leak was reportedly caused by a plugged exhaust hose. The vessel was dewatered.
June 3 • 9:45 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 27-foot sailboat aground on Silverstrand Beach. Both people on board were safely on the beach, with no injuries. The vessel was removed from the beach by the owner the following morning. June 9 • 5:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of an 11-foot boat disabled by Light #2. The vessel was towed to a private marina.
June 10 • 1:40 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of an 18-foot boat disabled in the main basin. The vessel was towed to the launch ramp.

Ventura Harbor
June 21 • 9:30 p.m.
Ventura Harbor Patrol observed more than 100 teenagers who, according to reports, were preparing to have a party on the beach. Officers contacted many of the group in the parking lot and got the crowd to disperse. In the process, officers reported that they found a bottle of vodka, a jar of marijuana and a bong in the possession of two youths. The Ventura Police Department was notified. With police officers’ assistance, the vodka, marijuana and bong were destroyed, and the subjects were released.
June 23 • 4:05 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers observed an inflatable boat speeding in the harbor and issued the operator a citation.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
Santa Barbara Harbor
June 16 • 5 p.m.
Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol officers responded on Patrol Boat #1 to a report of an overturned catamaran with two people in the water. The vessel was righted and both occupants then sailed the catamaran back to the beach.
June 16 • 6 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a fuel spill at a harbor marina. The vessel in question allegedly pumped .25 to .5 gallon of fuel into the water. The owner of the vessel had previously been warned about allowing contaminants to enter the harbor and was issued a citation.
June 24 • 4:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded on Patrol Boat #2 to a report of a vessel sinking with two people in the water, in the Leadbetter Point area. Both subjects were brought aboard the patrol boat, and the vessel was towed to the accommodations dock. A safety briefing was conducted with the juveniles and their father about required safety equipment, as one of the youths did not have a PFD.
