ORANGE COUNTY

Dana Point Harbor
Feb. 16 • 1:40 p.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers moved a boat east of the jetty and safely anchored it in the east anchorage.
Feb. 16 • 3:29 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted the operator of a boat with engine trouble.
Feb. 19 • 10:55 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers retrieved an ice chest valued at $300 that was floating toward the channel entrance. The ice chest was returned to its owner.

Newport Harbor

Feb. 15 • 8:41 a.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers responded to a call that a barge was speeding on its way to a boatyard. Officers advised the crew to slow down.
Feb. 15 • 2:51 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a boat from Peter’s Landing to Warner and Main Street.
Feb. 16 • 2:33 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a call that a 60-foot motoryacht had lost power and was adrift in the middle of the channel, near a barge. Officers tied a line on the boat and waited for a commercial assistance company to arrive.
Feb. 16 • 4:06 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a 26-foot powerboat back to Newport Dunes Marina.
Feb. 18 • 2:59 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a call of a 38-foot sportfishing yacht coming within a few feet of another boat. Feb. 18 • 3:23 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of sea lions on a vessel in the “A” Mooring Field.

VENTURA COUNTY

Channel Islands Harbor
Feb. 16 • 3:10 p.m.
A Channel Islands Harbor Patrol officer observed a vessel that had lost power and was drifting toward the rocks near the harbor entrance. The officer responded and towed the vessel back to its dock safely.

Ventura Harbor
Feb. 8 • 3:35 p.m.
Vessel Assist responded to a call to assist a 15-foot inflatable boat near the surf off McGrath Power Plant and requested Ventura Harbor Patrol officers’ assistance. Upon officers’ arrival, the vessel was on the beach. Lifeguards reported that the people aboard were safe. Vessel Assist removed the boat from the beach.
Feb. 10 • 7:15 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report that a commercial fishing vessel was listing to port while moored at Ventura Harbor Village. Harbor Patrol officers responded and began pumping water out of the vessel. They could only keep up with the flow until they secured a valve that was allowing water to flow into the port fish hold. They then pumped the vessel dry. A dock neighbor and the dockmaster continued to monitor the vessel until the captain arrived on the scene.
Feb. 10 • 10:45 a.m. An Army Corps of Engineers survey vessel reported a floating air tank at the harbor entrance, creating a hazard to navigation. Harbor Patrol officers towed the tank to the long dock, and both fire department and county Environmental Health personnel were notified.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY

Santa Barbara Harbor
Feb. 11 • 3:05 a.m.
Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of unauthorized use of a marina facility at Marina 4. Officers contacted a subject and issued him a citation.
