San Diego Harbor
April 17 • Harbor Police responded to the Sweetwater Channel for a report of a 20 foot vessel taking on water. There were three people on board. Police units towed the vessel to the National City launch ramp where the vessel was removed from the water. April 13 • Harbor Police responded to a vessel taking on water in the California Yacht Club Marina. At the time of arrival the vessel was partially sunk and causing a minor fuel spill. The vessel owner made arrangements to recover the vessel.
April 10 • Harbor Police units responded to a vessel fire in the marina at 2040 Harbor island Dr. Harbor police, along with San Diego Fire department personnel extinguished the fire which resulted in damage to two vessels. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
April 9 • A 15 foot vessel found adrift in the Americas Cup Harbor was impounded.
April 7 • While investigating a possible burglary onboard a vessel in the A-3 anchorage, Harbor Police arrested a 34- year old male for an outstanding warrant.
April 7 • A 41-year old male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. He was contacted near the Shelter Island launch ramp after trespassing on another vessel moored in the area.
April 5 • Harbor Police recovered a dinghy found adrift at the entrance to Americas Cup Harbor.
April 2 • Harbor Police investigated a fight on the marina dock at 1551 Shelter Island Drive. No arrests were made.
Dana Point Harbor
April 13 • 6:09 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a group of jet skiers who were too close to the beach.
April 13 • 4:21 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a 22 foot boat caught in the kelp south of the harbor entrance.
April 13 • 1:35 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a report of vessels on the rocks near the west jetty. Newport Harbor
April 16 • 9:44 a.m. Harbor Patrol re-secured a boat to an onshore mooring with a broken post.
April 16 • 12:42 a.m. Harbor Patrol along with outside agencies responded to a car that went into the Back Bay.
April 14 • 4:28 p.m. Harbor Patrol contacted a boat owners whose boat was sticking too far out into the channel. Sunset Beach Harbor
April 15 • 2:41 a.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a boat that went aground. Towed the vessel to Davies Locker.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Marina del Rey
April 14 • 11:45 a.m. Deputies from Marina del Rey Marine Patrol responded to the main channel regarding a disabled vessel. The boat had a fuel line problem and was towed the launch ramp.
April 13 • 1 p.m. Deputies from Marina del Rey Marine Patrol responded to H basin regarding a medical emergency. An 83 year old male fainted. He was treated at the scene by the deputies and L.A. County Fire paramedics. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is not life threatening.
April 12 • 2 p.m. Deputies from Marina del Rey Marine Patrol responded to the main channel and H basin regarding a disabled vessel. The vessel suffered engine failure and was adrift. The deputies towed the vessel to its slip in H basin.
April 13 • 7:45 a.m. Harbor Patrol observed that a large amount of motor oil had leaked onto the fish offloading dock, apparently from a vehicle that was parked near the hoist. The dockmaster identified a possible responsible party. Maintenance cleaned up the oil.
April 12 • 3:30 p.m. Patrol received a report of a vessel disabled in the main channel. Patrol responded, took the vessel into tow and released it at its slip at VWM.
April 8 • 2:50 p.m. Observed a sailboat aground in the Sand Trap. Patrol responded, towed the lightly aground sailboat off the sand bar, and released it under its own power
April 4 • 11:15 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a complaint of people arguing for several nights on a boat at Dry Storage. Patrol requested that PD respond to assist. The couple was clearly living on the vessel. PD made contact with the subjects, but no action was taken at the time. Patrol contacted the couple in the morning and issued them a warning, but were called to a medical assist.
April 2 • 12:40 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report of a dead sea lion on Spinnaker Drive near Surfer's Knoll. Upon arrival, Patrol found a live pup on the shoulder of Spinnaker Drive. Patrol put the pup in a kennel and advised the Marine Mammal Rescue Center, who stated they would pick up the pup within an hour.
April 2 • 9:59 a.m. Ventura County Sheriff's relayed a report of a vessel swamped in the surf near Solimar Beach. Patrol responded. The vessel had been anchored off Pitas Point, a few miles north. The area was searched until it was verified that the vessel was unoccupied.
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
Santa Barbara Harbor
April 13 • 5:5 a.m. Department of Fish and Wildlife officers arrested 2 local fishermen in Santa Barbara Harbor for felony grand theft of shellfish from receivers belonging to other fisherman and local fish markets. The arrests were a result of a two month investigation conducted by the State Department of Fish and Wildlife
April 12 • 10 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded on Patrol Boat #2 to the sandspit on a report from the S/V Endless Passage that he came through the red and green buoys and ran aground. Harbor Patrol was able to tow the Endless Passage off of the beach and back into a slip in the harbor.
