Chula Vista Marina Holiday Lighting Set for Nov. 29

CHULA VISTA — Since 2002, Chula Vista Marina has been bringing holiday spirit to the area by illuminating its South Bay boating facility with festive lights that are bright enough to be seen from I-5, Coronado’s Silver Strand and San Diego Bay.

“One year, we decided that we wanted to make a Christmas tradition to show off the beauty of our marina,” said Andrea LaValley, general manager of Chula Vista Marina. “We wanted to shine for our community — and every year, we hope that our brilliant display attracts more attention to the Bayfront area.”

Each year, the display has grown with more lights. The marina restaurant, the Galley, joined in decoration the first year, with South Bay Fish and Grill teaming up last year.

“This year we have the Bill of Rights ship moored at the excursion dock, and they will be joining us this year in decorating,” LaValley said. “The Christmas spirit at Chula Vista Marina is very catchy.”

At 5:30 p.m. Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving, the marina will flip a switch during its annual “Light the Harbor” event, lighting a display of hundreds of lights around every tree and structure on the premises.

A small reception will follow in the Marina Room at Chula Vista Marina, with wine and cheese. The event is free for Chula Vista Marina tenants; $10 per person for all others. For more information, call the marina office at (619) 691-1860.

The light display will be continue for the public to enjoy until Jan. 1.
