Oceanside Harbor Days to Run Sept. 27-28

OCEANSIDE – Boats, sandcastles, live music and everything Oceanside will be featured at the annual Oceanside Harbor Days celebration, scheduled for 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sept. 27 and 28. To help celebrate the city’s 126th birthday, a boat parade organized by Oceanside Yacht Club will add to the fun-filled day.

Presented by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, USAA and Genentech, the two-day event will feature arts and craft exhibits, military displays and food trucks.

Amateur boat builders can test their skills during the Nail and Sail Competition where competitors build boats and paddles out of materials provided to teams. They then have to race in the harbor on their newly constructed craft to test out its seaworthiness.

On the landside, guests can enjoy a boat parade organized by Oceanside Yacht Club, which will include numerous vessels adorned with theme decorations. A sandcastle competition, live music and arts and crafts booths will keep guests of all ages entertained.

A 2.4 or 1.2 mile TikiSwim will be offered to swimmers on Sunday, Sept. 28. At 7:30 a.m. participants will swim from the Oceanside Pier to Oceanside Harbor.

Oceanside Harbor Days is free and open to the public. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 27 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 28 at Oceanside Harbor. For more information on Oceanside Harbor Days, visit oceansidechamber.com.
