SAN DIEGO -- The 31st biennial San Diego-to-Puerto Vallarta Race is set for March 1-10, starting off Shelter Island and finishing off Punta Mita in Mexico’s Banderas Bay. The race is hosted by San Diego Yacht Club.

Festivities at the conclusion of the 1,000-mile race will be on the beach at Nuevo Vallarta, just north of Puerto Vallarta. According to race organizers, racers and their families will enjoy world-class resort accommodations here.

The San Diego-to-Puerto Vallarta Race will conclude just in time for racers to participate in the 22nd edition of MEXORC (the Mexican Ocean Racing Circuit) and the Regatta Copa Mexico.

MEXORC is scheduled for March 10-17. The Regatta Copa Mexico is a joint effort of Mexico’s government and the Mexican Sailing Federation. The international event at Banderas Bay will feature seven days of racing over eight calendar days, in a location that has been called “one of the finest sailing venues in the world."
