New restaurant opens in Avalon

AVALON – Guests to Catalina Island will have a new place to dine with the opening of Maggie’s Blue Rose on April 12.             Overlooking the bay and Crescent Avenue, Maggie’s Blue Rose offers diners authentic Mexican cuisine paired with an extensive margarita and wine menu.

Steve and Margaret Bray announced the opening of the restaurant earlier this month. The husband-wife duo also established Steve’s Steakhouse in Avalon in 2001. Since then, the steakhouse as served as the island’s finest restaurant offering fresh steak and seafood items.

“At Maggie’s, we want to deliver the same high standards that local and visitor diners have enjoyed and come to expect at Steve’s,” said Margaret Bray.

Both Steve and Margaret have a long history with the island – Steve is a fourth generation Catalina Islander whose great grandfather worked as an accountant for the Banning Brothers and was the first Avalon county judge. Margaret began visiting the island at a young age and eventually moved to Catalina.

Maggie’s Blue Rose will serve as Avalon’s newest upscale restaurant.
