Halloween Parade and Zombie Walk Planned Oct. 31

Byline: The Log Staff

AVALON — Two popular seasonal events — the Halloween Costume Parade and the Catalina Zombie Walk — are scheduled in Avalon on Halloween Night, Oct. 31.

At 4 p.m., parade participants are invited to don their favorite costumes and join Catalina Island schoolchildren and other residents for the annual Halloween Parade down Crescent Avenue. The parade starts at the Old Ben statue near the mole and ends at Via Casino.

The parade is sponsored by the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce. For details, call (310) 510-1520.

Following the parade, at around 4:30 p.m., “zombies” will begin a spooky crawl through Avalon to celebrate the “night of the living dead.” According to event organizers, these walking flesh and brain eaters will politely wait until after the children’s Halloween Parade events before walking or crawling along Crescent Avenue.

Boaters are encouraged to join locals in the walk, wearing horrific zombie costumes. A makeup artist will be at the mole to assist, but zombies must come with their own makeup.

This event is free and sponsored by Ghost Tours of Catalina to benefit youth organizations throughout Avalon. For additional information, call (310) 502-8669.
