Heaps of Trash
Tires, solar panels and cell phones were only a few of the items volunteer divers found on the bottom of Catalina’s Island ocean floor during the annual Catalina Island Conservancy Divers event. Among the oddest items the divers recovered were an algae covered chair, thermostat for an engine, plastic green army man and a rusted barbeque. Some of the more valuable discoveries were an assortment of cell phones and glass bottles from the early 1900s. Jeff Reimer brought a tire up from the bottom of Avalon Harbor and diver Jim Melrod added a solar panel to the growing pile of debris.
