Shipwreck Weekend Sails into Two Harbors

TWO HARBORS — Boaters searching for a reason to join a party just might have found one: The inaugural Shipwreck Weekend is scheduled to begin at Two Harbors on Friday, March 22, launching three days of celebration.

Hosted by the Santa Catalina Island Co., Shipwreck Weekend 2013 will begin with an evening of dancing to the latest hits and old-time classics at the Harbor Reef Saloon. A DJ will spin discs, and a live band will perform from 8 p.m.-midnight.

On Saturday, guests will enjoy a castaway costume contest, a raft-building contest, hints to a treasure search and much more. A live band will take the stage later that day, from 3-7 p.m. and 8 p.m.-midnight, with a DJ spinning records before and after the performances.

Tickets can be purchased for $20; or participants can buy a Castaway Pass for $145 per person, which includes round-trip boat tickets from Newport Beach, two nights’ camping at Two Harbors, a Sunday breakfast buffet at the West End Galley and event admission. Castaway Pass online booking continues only through March 1, at visittwoharbors.com.

“We wanted to create an early spring live music event that replicates the fun and excitement that October’s Buccaneer Days has long brought to Two Harbors,” said Randall Herrel, CEO of the Santa Catalina Island Co.

Moorings in Two Harbors are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call (310) 510-4253 for more information.
