Thad Jones, BZ Jones hikes get people outside

CATALINA ISLAND — You are invited to get outside and explore Catalina Island during the annual Thad Jones and BZ Jones hikes scheduled in April.

The Catalina Island Conservancy hosts the hikes to get people moving while exploring the rugged side of the island.

Choose between a two-day strenuous hike during the Thad Jones hike April 15-16. The 30-mile hike takes participants from west to east across the island, with a stop at Starlight Beach before heading to Little Harbor to camp for the night. The following day, hikers continue on the course to the Airport in the Sky where they will join BZ Jones hikers to complete the Trans Catalina Trail together.

Tickets are $285 for nonmembers, $265 for members.

The fifth annual BZ Jones Hike is a less strenuous hike, taking participants across 12 miles of island trails. The one-day hike is scheduled for April 16.

Hikers will travel from the Airport in the Sky back down to Avalon. Lunch drinks, a celebration dinner and transportation are included in the hike.

Participants will enjoy several meals together, including a post-hike celebration dinner on Saturday night and a party at the Marlin Club.

Cost is $185 for nonmembers and $165 for members.
