SAN DIEGO COUNTY

San Diego Bay
Nov. 18 • 1:10 a.m.
San Diego Harbor Police officers assisted Coast Guard personnel with a boater suspected of being intoxicated, near Shelter Island. Officers evaluated the subject and arrested him on charges of boating under the influence. No injuries were reported.

Nov. 20 • 4 a.m. Harbor Police officers responded to a report of possible trespassers at a marina on Harbor Island. The suspects fled on foot, officers chased them and two were arrested on charges of resisting arrest.

Nov. 20 • 3 p.m.
Harbor Police officers responded to a report of a sailing vessel in distress near Ballast Point. Officers provided a tow to a safe location, and no injuries were reported.

Nov. 22 • 3:45 a.m. Harbor Police officers responded to a report of a possible explosion near Shelter Island. Officers arrived and discovered an explosion had occurred while a boater was transferring fuel aboard his vessel. The boater was taken for medical evaluation of possible first-degree burns.

Nov. 24 • 9:15 a.m. Harbor Police officers responded to a report of a theft aboard a vessel near Harbor Island. Fishing gear was reported taken.

Mission Bay
Nov. 21 • 9:24 a.m.
San Diego Lifeguard Service Harbor Patrol personnel responded to a report of a suspicious vessel near Black’s Beach. Coast Guard advised lifeguards that a possible smuggling boat had been reported on the beach.

Nov. 22 • 7:51 p.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of a vessel dragging anchor near the south channel jetty. Vessel Assist reported it was a 24-foot skiff with three people on board. The vessel was towed into the turning basin to standby for commercial assistance.

Nov. 23 • 6 a.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards assisted in the removal of a dead whale near the sewage treatment plant. The whale carcass was towed away by the Virgin Oceanic boat.

Nov. 23 • 6:56 p.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards received a report of a suspicious vessel offshore at La Jolla. The call was transferred to the Coast Guard, and the San Diego Police Department also sent a patrol unit.

Nov. 24 • 4:50 a.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of a flare sighting on Mission Bay.

Nov. 26 • 10:05 a.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of a vessel burglary at Mariners Basin. The San Diego Police Department was also notified about the stolen items.

Nov. 27 • 8:41 a.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of a vehicle in the water near the 900 block of Fiesta Island Road. The unoccupied vehicle was stuck in the sand overnight and was partially submerged by the incoming tide. Lifeguards assisted with hooking up the vehicle for the tow truck operator.

Nov. 27 • 12:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of a vessel adrift at Fiesta Bay. The 13-foot runabout powerboat was reportedly out of fuel. The vessel was towed to the dock.

Nov. 27 • 3:15 p.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of a vessel aground in Mission Bay Channel. The 20-foot sloop with five people on board was aground on the rocks. Lifeguards towed the vessel off the rocks, then the vessel’s operators were able to move the boat with an auxiliary outboard engine. No damage was reported.

ORANGE COUNTY
Dana Point Harbor
Nov. 14 • 10:05 a.m
. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a fuel spill near N Dock at East Basin Island.

Nov. 20 • 9:13 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted with a boat rescue of two sailboats on the rocks off Doheny State Beach.

Newport Harbor
Nov. 16 • 12:50 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a collision between a sailboat towing a dinghy and a double-masted sailboat at a mooring.

Nov. 20 • 12:24 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a boat adrift near the1300 block of Balboa Boulevard. Several callers reported the vessel’s stern line had come undone.

Nov. 21 • 7:28 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a boat sinking off Huntington Flats.

Nov. 22 • 7:29 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a fuel spill from an unknown source in the bay between two major restaurants on Mariner’s Mile.

Nov. 23 • 12:03 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 20-foot piece of dock adrift on the west side of Newport Island. Officers recovered two dock floats and returned them to their owner.

Sunset/Huntington Harbour
Nov. 18 • 4:51 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of boat fire near the outer Naval Weapons Station.

Nov. 21 • 1:59 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of two juveniles speeding in an inflatable boat near the Humboldt Island bridge.

Nov. 24 • 10:44 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of debris adrift near the fuel dock.

Nov. 28 • 3:37 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted with a tow of a 21-foot vessel near the Simple Green building.

Nov. 30 • 8:54 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted in pumping water out of a boat near the 16700 block of Baruna. The owner had called and reported he had a problem with the bait tank.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Marina del Rey
Nov. 20 • 2:49 p.m.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Marine Enforcement deputies  responded to a report of a dismasted sailboat in a slip. Deputies marked the hazard to navigation and notified the dockmaster.

Nov. 28 • 3:59 p.m.
Marine Enforcement deputies stopped a vessel in the main channel and cited the owner for failing to properly display registration numbers.º

Redondo Beach
Nov. 22 • 5:56 p.m
. Redondo Beach Fire Department and Harbor Patrol personnel, with the assistance of the Department of Fish and Game, confiscated several varieties of fish caught illegally off the shoreline. Harbor Patrol officers were monitoring lobster divers in the area when they encountered a vessel without running lights. The occupants of the vessel identified themselves as fishermen and, during questioning, the officers observed a large quantity of fish in their coolers. According to officers, further questioning determined that only one of the four fishermen had a fishing license. The fish that were still alive were released into the ocean, and the fish that were dead were confiscated. The fishermen were cited.

VENTURA COUNTY
Channel Islands Harbor
Nov. 23 • 5:20 p.m.
Channel Islands Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 13-foot boat disabled and adrift in the outer harbor. The vessel was taken in tow and released at the launch ramp.

Nov. 25 • 8:30 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 25-foot vessel disabled in the main basin. The vessel was taken in tow and released at Anacapa Isle Marina.

Nov. 25 • 4:15 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 29-foot vessel being towed into the harbor by a Good Samaritan. The vessel was taken in tow by the Harbor Patrol and released at a residence in Mandalay Bay.

Nov. 26 • 10:55 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 22-foot vessel nearing the rocks by navigation light No. 3. The Harbor Patrol took the vessel in tow and released it at the Channel Islands Landing.

Nov. 26 • 2:55 p.m.
Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of an 18-foot vessel disabled at the harbor entrance. The vessel was taken in tow and released at the launch ramp.

Ventura Harbor
Nov. 17 • 8:26 p.m.
Ventura Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a man threatening another man in a dinghy to the point that the threatened person jumped out of the boat and swam to the dock. When officers arrived and found the accused man, they notified the Ventura Police Department. Police officers arrested him on charges of making a criminal threat.

Nov. 19 • 6:07 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a medical assist on a boat at Harbor Village. Officers administered oxygen. The patient refused transportation to the hospital.

Nov. 21 • 10:15 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report that a boat dealer had been burglarized the previous evening. Officers found three trailerable boats had their fuel lines cut, possibly in an unsuccessful attempt to steal gasoline. The Ventura Police Department was notified and a report was filed.

Nov. 26 • 12:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers observed a paddleboat blown against the riprap by strong east winds. Officers towed the craft off the rocks, transferred the passengers to a tow company and got the craft towed back to its dock.

Nov. 27 • 12:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report that a couple could not retrieve their boat because their trailer’s brakes were frozen. Officers responded and suggested they bleed the brakes slightly. The brakes released, and the couple was able to recover their boat.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
Nov. 16 • 4:45 p.m.
Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol officers assisted Santa Barbara Police Department officers with keeping the peace after two commercial fishermen were reportedly engaged in a fist fight on Stearns Wharf. No arrests were made, but the matter was turned over to the district attorney’s office.

Nov. 19 • 1:15 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted other agencies in securing a panga involved in a smuggling investigation.

Nov. 25 • 7:15 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a sunken boat. Officers found no one on board. Being familiar with the vessel, officers contacted the owners. Flotsam was picked up and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department, Coast Guard and California Department of Fish and Game personnel were notified.
