SAN DIEGO COUNTY

San Diego Harbor

May 18 • Harbor Police units responded to the Maritime Museum for a report of a 33-year -old male trespassing aboard a vessel. The subject was taken into custody and transported to County Mental Health and placed for a 72 hour evaluation.

ORANGE COUNTY

Dana Point Harbor

May 26 • 12:14 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a PWC on the rocks.
May 25 • 2:57 p.m. Harbor Patrol towed a rental back to Dana Point Jet Ski.

Newport Harbor

May 29 • 10:21 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a report that a male adult jumped off the ferry boat and was swimming toward Opal Street.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Marina del Rey

May 23 • 10:25 a.m.  Marina del Rey Marine Patrol assisted a disabled boater. The vessels steering became disabled and the boater was unable to control his boat. The deputies towed the boat to the fuel dock for repairs.
May 18 • 7:20 p.m. Marina del Rey Marine Patrol responded to A basin regarding a large quantity of dead fish. The Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Beaches and Harbors was notified of the incident.
May 15 • 4 p.m. Marina del Rey Marine Patrol responded to D basin regarding a grand theft call.  An 8 foot RIB was taken. It had been stored and locked on the victim’s boat. There was no damage to the boat. An investigation is underway.
May 13 • 3:20 p.m. Marina del Rey Marine Patrol responded to the main channel and “C” basin regarding a novice sailor. The sail boats engine failed and the operator was afraid to put her boat in its slip under sail. The deputies took her in tow and put the boat into its slip.
May 12 • noon  Marina del Rey Marine Patrol assisted a trimaran with fouled rigging. The vessel was taken in tow and the deputies assisted the mariner in untangling his lines.  he vessel was then released and the vessel sailed away without any further assistance.
May 11 • 7:20 p.m. Marina del Rey Marine Patrol towed a sailboat to their slip. The sailboats main sail ripped, due to heavy wind, and the line fouled their prop leaving them disabled and adrift. The deputies towed them to their slip in E basin.

VENTURA COUNTY

Ventura Harbor

May 17 • 12:45 p.m. Patrol observed a dinghy in need of assistance in the Inner Harbor. Patrol took the vessel into tow and released it at its slip at VIM.
May 17 • 3:22 p.m. Patrol observed a rental electric boat near the Arundel Barranca. Patrol took the vessel into tow and released it to an employee of the rental company.
May 13 • 9:50 a.m. A Keys resident reports a paddle boarder having difficulty in the Keys. Patrol responded. Patrol took two paddle boarders and a dog aboard the Patrol boat and transported them to the “big beach” in the Keys.
May 25 • 6:56 p.m. Patrol observed an aluminum skiff in need of assistance in the channel. Patrol took the vessel into tow and released it at its dock in the Keys.

Channel Islands Harbor

May 26 • 5:25 p.m. The Harbor Patrol responded to a 20 foot vessel disabled just outside the surf line at Silverstrand Beach. The vessel was towed to a local marina.
May 26 • 12:50 a.m. The Harbor Patrol responded to a 35 foot sailing vessel aground on the Port Hueneme south jetty. Both people on board were accounted for by the fire department and the vessel was handed over to a commercial salvage company. May 25 • 4:05 p.m. The Harbor Patrol responded to a 24 foot vessel out of fuel off Silverstrand Beach. The vessel was towed to the fuel dock.
May 24 • 1:25 p.m. The Harbor Patrol responded to a 12 foot sailing vessel aground by light #4. The vessel was towed off the beach and released under its own power.
May 24 • 12:20 a.m. The Harbor Patrol assisted a vessel at the Harbor Master Dock with an injured passenger on board. The patient was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
May 20 • 2:50 p.m. The Harbor Patrol responded to a PWC in distress off Silverstrand Beach. The PWC operator was near the surf line where he had been thrown from the PWC and was unable to get back on board. The Harbor Patrol was able to throw him a life-ring for extra flotation but unable to approach close enough to recover him do to the surf. The PWC operator was helped to the beach by the fire department water rescue unit where he refused medical treatment and was released. The PWC was removed from the beach with the aid of the fire department.
May 17 • 5:35 p.m. The Harbor Patrol responded to an 18 foot vessel disabled off Silverstrand Beach. The vessel was towed to the launch ramp.

Santa Barbara Harbor

May 11 • 8:10 p.m. Harbor Patrol Officers received a report of two subjects climbing on boats in the marina. When confronted by Harbor Patrol, one of the subjects took off running.  After a brief struggle the subject was placed into custody but not before one officer sustained a torn bicep.  The suspect was arrested and faces felony changes.
May 9 • 2:35 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to Sea Landing on a request from the passenger vessel Stardust of a Code 40 subject challenging patrons to fight.  Stardust staff said the involved person had made it a “very long day off fishing.” The intoxicated, belligerent male was escorted from the vessel. No witness or victims came forward to sign a citation and the individual was warned to stay away from the business.
May 7 • 2:10 p.m. Harbor Patrol Officers responded on foot to marina 1 on a complaint of homeless person entering the marina and boarding various vessel in Marina 1. Harbor Patrol contacted the involved individual and issued them citations for unauthorized entry into the marina.
May 5 • 1:50 p.m. The S/V Jenny Lane reported an unoccupied panga boat circling approximately 5 miles south of Arroyo Burro Beach. Harbor Patrol, USCG helo from LA and a cutter from Channel Islands responded. PB#2 arrived on scene at approximately 1425 hours with an approximate 30 foot panga. The vessel had two 115HP Yamaha Enduro outboard motors and a large center fuel tank with approximately 20 gallons of fuel in the tank. The steering wheel was tied off to the console with electrical wire. Harbor Patrol came alongside the panga and boarded the unoccupied boat. Harbor Patrol drove the panga to the Launch Ramp where it was pulled from the water and ultimately taken to San Diego.
May 3 • 3 p.m. The Capt. of the Land Shark reported and overturned kayak with person in the water (PIW) unable to get back onto his kayak. Harbor Patrol responded on PB#2 found three victims overturned and separated from their kayaks. Brought aboard 3 foreign exchange students and their kayaks and returned to the Harbor.
