Dana Point Harbor
Feb. 4 • 7:39 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a boat capsize near the west jetty. No fuel leakage.
Feb. 2 • 12:47 p.m. Harbor Patrol assisted a boat to the launch ramp.

Newport Harbor
Feb. 4 • 2:42 p.m. Harbor Patrol freed a duck caught in a fishing line.
Feb. 4 • 1:34 a.m. Harbor Patrol responded to a call that a passenger was getting aggressive on a vessel. The vessel was requested to dock.
Feb. 3 • 2:53 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to boat reported to be taking on water in the mooring field. Balboa Basin Shipyard was called.
Feb. 3 • 10:25 a.m. Harbor Patrol responded to the Sea Base docks where a 24-foot sailboat was left on the docks. The vessel was towed.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Marina del Rey
Feb. 4 • 7 a.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey marine patrol unit responded to C basin regarding a theft call. The victim indicated that his unlocked bicycle had been stolen from the dock.  An investigation is underway.
Feb. 3 • 4 p.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey marine patrol unit along with Baywatch del Rey responded to Playa del Rey regarding a vessel aground. The vessel, a trimaran sail boat, broke free from its anchor and went aground. There was no one on board the boat.  Baywatch was able to tow the vessel free from grounding.  Deputies took charge of the vessel and towed it to the MDR station dock. The vessel has moderate damage to its bow. The owner of the boat has been contacted.
Feb. 1 • 1:30 p.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey marine and land based patrol units responded to “F” basin regarding a trespassing call. The dock master had caught and was detaining a trespasser.  A private person’s arrest was made and deputies took custody of the female suspect.  She was transported and booked at Marine del Rey Sheriff’s station.
Jan. 30 • 3:30 p.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey marine patrol unit responded to “F” basin regarding a trespassing call. The victim indicated that someone had been staying aboard his vessel without his permission.  No property was taken but evidence was left behind.
Jan. 30 • 10 a.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey marine patrol unit responded to “Mothers Beach” regarding a petty theft call. The victim reported that his Kayak had been stolen.  Jan. 23 • 3:30 p.m. Deputies from the Marina del Rey marine patrol unit responded to “F” basin regarding a vessel taking on water. Deputies pumped approximately 25 gallons of water from the boat. The dock master was notified and took charge of the vessel until the owner could respond.

VENTURA COUNTY

Channel Islands Harbor
Feb. 1 • 4:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to the main basin for a 21-foot electric boat in need of a tow. The vessels was towed to its slip.
Jan. 26 • 5:55 p.m. Harbor Patrol responded to the main basin for a 32-foot sailboat in need of a tow. The Vessel was towed to its slip.
Jan. 23 • noon Harbor Patrol responded to the main basin for a 14-foot sailboat in need of a tow. The vessel was towed to its slip. Ventura Harbor
Feb. 1 • 12:17 a.m. Patrol received a report of a vessel disabled and near the breakwater. Patrol advised the operator to drop his anchor and then responded. Patrol took the vessel into tow and delivered it to its slip.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY

Santa Barbara Harbor
Feb. 3 • Harbor Patrol Officers respond to marina 4 on a report from a boat owner that his skiff was stolen and the suspect was currently driving the skiff towards Sea Landing.  Harbor Patrol made contact with the suspect, who at first was cooperative but then began yelling and screaming. He was placed under arrest for resisting arrest and “joy riding” with vessel.
Jan. 29 • Harbor Patrol responded to the anchorage on a report of two vessels colliding into one another. Harbor Patrol was able to determine which of the two vessels had drug anchor and was able to tow it into the harbor. Both parties were notified and responded to check the condition of their vessels. Harbor Patrol completed a vessel collision report and filed it with the Department of Boating and Waterways.
Jan. 25 • Harbor Patrol observed an overloaded skiff with 6 POB attempting to tie up on skiff row. Harbor Patrol responded and contacted the driver of the skiff, who said he was returning from his dad’s sailboat anchored in the Year-Round Anchorage. The operator had no identification, no registration paperwork, no light and only 3 PFDs, two of which were non-serviceable. Educated the operator on all safety aspects including capacity limit of his skiff, gave him a Cal Boating booklet and issued him citation for No PFD-Vessel.
Jan. 23 • Harbor Patrol Officers received a report from a visiting boater that he witnessed a male adult defecating into the water from the bait barge. When Officers questioned the suspected individual, he said he “had to go.” The man was issued a citation for Defecating in Public. While issuing the citation, the same individual became irate and ripped up his citation and threw it into the water. The individual was issued an additional citation for littering.
