SAN DIEGO COUNTY
San Diego Bay
Dec. 12 • 5:50 a.m
. San Diego Harbor Police officers reported a boat collision with a buoy near Shelter Island. Officers assisted after the boat reportedly began to take on water. No injuries were reported.
Dec. 13 • 2:35 p.m. Harbor Police officers investigated a spill of about 4 gallons of diesel fuel near Shelter Island from an unknown source.
Dec. 18 • 9 p.m. Harbor Police officers contacted a fisherman on a boat near Shelter Island. Officers arrested the man on an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence, according to police.
Dec. 22 • 5:15 p.m. Harbor Police officers assisted passengers aboard a capsized boat near Zuniga Jetty. A commercial assistance firm was contacted, and no injuries were reported.
Dec. 26 • 10:30 p.m. Harbor Police officers investigated a diesel fuel spill from an unknown source near Shelter Island.

Mission Bay
Dec. 19 • 1:56 p.m.
San Diego Lifeguard Service Harbor Patrol personnel aided in a kayak rescue at La Jolla Cove. Two kayaks with three people on board reportedly overturned and washed up onto the rocks at Million Dollar Point. Two people were treated for minor cuts and abrasions. Kayak rental companies were notified to retrieve the kayaks.
Dec. 22 • 12:25 p.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of personal watercraft in the surf at North Pacific Beach. Lifeguards requested a surfboat for an enforcement contact. The surfboat was unable to intercept the PWCs.
Dec. 24 • 3:56 p.m. Harbor Patrol lifeguards responded to a report of a 22-foot runabout boat aground at the turning basin with three people on board. The vessel was pulled from the rocks. Operators were able to start the boat’s outboard engine and return to the dock. No damage was reported.

ORANGE COUNTY
Dana Point Harbor
Dec. 19 • 1:36 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of an inflatable green lawn chair leaking a substance creating a sheen on the water near a waterfront restaurant dock. Officers reported it was not coming from the inflatable chair, and that the sheen appeared old.
Dec. 22 • 2:49 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted three kayakers near the harbor entrance who couldn’t make it back in the wind.
Dec. 25 • 6:35 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a flare sighting near San Clemente State Beach.
Dec. 25 • 8:17 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted a boat adrift near the fuel dock.
Dec. 26 • 3 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted with a jump-start of a boat near the harbor entrance.
Dec. 26 • 6:51 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a flare sighting near San Clemente Pier. Officers reported it appeared to be fireworks, but headed to the area to investigate. The Coast Guard was advised.
Dec. 27 • 3:33 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a suspicious persons report near J Dock, where three subjects had reportedly jumped a fence. Officers escorted three juveniles off the dock.

Newport Harbor
Dec. 15 • 8:18 p.m.
Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers assisted operators of an electric runabout boat that was caught in a mooring line. The five people on board were transported to Newport Dunes. Vessel Assist cut the boat loose from the mooring line and the vessel was soon under way on its own again.
Dec. 16 • 10:42 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers re-secured a boat after it broke free from a yacht club mooring.
Dec. 16 • 7:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of an 18-foot electric runabout boat aground off De Anza Marina.
Dec. 17 • 8:39 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted with towing an 18-foot vessel with four people on board between Linda Isle and Harbor Island. The vessel was towed to De Anza Marina.
Dec. 18 • 2:21 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of PWCs speeding between Balboa Island and the B Mooring Area.
Dec. 20 • 10:57 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted with towing a 22-foot vessel from Crystal Cove to a local yacht club.
Dec. 22 • 9:40 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a small boat speeding inbound near the main channel. A warning was issued.
Dec. 26 • 6:08 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 24-foot sportfisher operating recklessly near Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club.

Sunset/Huntington Harbour
Dec. 17 • 7:25 p.m.
Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a boat taking on water and sinking near the 16500 block of Ensign Circle. Two people on board were aided.
Dec. 21 • 4:13 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a fuel spill in the area between Windspun Drive and Trinidad Island. Officers found a large quantity of fuel spilled in the channel from an unknown source.

VENTURA COUNTY
Channel Islands Harbor
Dec. 18 •  2 p.m.
Channel Islands Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 21-foot sailboat on the rocks between navigation lights No. 2 and No. 4. The vessel was towed off the rocks and was able to get under way under its own power. No injuries were reported.
Dec. 20 • 5:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 20-foot powerboat disabled in the outer harbor. The vessel was taken in tow and released at the launch ramp.
Dec. 20 • 6:45 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers observed a 27-foot sailing vessel disabled in the west channel. The vessel was taken in tow and released at Peninsula Yacht Marina.
Dec. 20 • 8:40 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 12-foot powerboat disabled at the breakwall. The vessel was taken in tow and released at the launch ramp.

Ventura Harbor
Dec. 14 • 3:51 p.m.
Ventura Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a stable medical patient on an inbound vessel from Santa Cruz Island. Upon arrival, the patient was assessed by the fire department. The patient chose not to be transported to a hospital.
Dec. 15 • 1:15 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of an oil sheen at a local marina. Officers reported it appeared to be hydraulic fluid. Officers requested assistance from Fire Department personnel in deploying oil pads. The source of the spill could not be located. The next day, the Coast Guard contracted with a cleanup company to remove the material.
Dec. 17 • 8:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a person throwing fireworks at a vessel at Harbor Village Marina. Officers spoke to both parties and reportedly neither wanted to pursue the issue.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
Santa Barbara Harbor
Dec. 23 • 1 p.m.
Harbor Patrol officers chased a large bull sea lion off numerous boats and docks throughout the day. Officers reported the mammal may be responsible for damage to a local bait barge.
