Adair Yachts reopens after devastating fire

SUNSET BEACH — A fire that destroyed Nancy Adair’s apartment, which also housed her yacht brokerage — Adair Yachts — on Oct. 25, has not impacted the business as clients’ boats continue to be serviced.

“We are still open for business,” Adair said. “We are still taking care of boats and maintaining them.”

Adair, owner of the brokerage specializing in powerboats and yachts in Sunset Beach and Huntington Harbour, is currently running the business from another residence but intends to establish a new headquarters in Los Angeles County.

“I will relocate to Shoreline Marina,” she explained. “I’m looking for a new office.”

According to news reports, the fire broke out in the two-story structure located on Pacific Coast Highway on Oct. 25. Two apartment units on the top floor were destroyed; the dry cleaner and salon businesses on the first floor had smoke and water damage.

Adair lived in the apartment for 22 years.

Boaters familiar with the services provided by Adair Yachts can rest assured knowing they can still call on the company for all their powerboat and yacht needs. New clients simply call 562-252-2167 to set up a date and time to have their boat serviced.

Adair Yachts services boats from Marina del Rey to Newport Beach, providing yacht maintenance and management, titling and boat documentation, charter services, a full brokerage firm, and boater education and instruction on navigation, safety and the boat’s electronics systems.

“No one leaves my dock intimidated by their boat,” she said.
