MARINA DEL REY (AP) — Authorities say nine people were injured after a rowboat they were aboard collided with a powerboat off Marina del Rey May 27 and was split in half.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Brent Carlson says those on the rowboat were pulled from the water and most had minor injuries after Sunday morning’s accident. However, a woman was airlifted to the hospital where she was treated and released.
Carlson said the operator of the powerboat, Peter Sorrento of Chatsworth, was alone and apparently didn’t see the rowboat in front of him. Sorrento was cited for allegedly not having a lookout on his boat.
