Chip Bishop retires from Hayden Insurance after 28 years

NEWPORT BEACH – Chip Bishop announced he will be retiring from Hayden Insurance Services after working as an insurance agent for 28 years.

Bishop headed off into retirement just ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday after spending more than 30 years in the marine industry, including owning a yacht sales business and working at Lido Shipyard.

At Lido Shipyard, Bishop served as assistant purchasing agent and store manager. He was also the owner and operator of Chip Bishop Yacht Sales.

An insurance agent since 1986, Bishop formerly served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a deckhand aboard the 310-foot USCG Cutter. He was also an occasional helmsman aboard vessels navigating the waters between Nova Scotia and Maryland and a first mate on an 82-foot motor yacht that cruised between Newport Beach and Ensenada.

Bishop’s boating experience included sailboat racing and the operation of his family’s 40-foot Chris Craft in Long Island Sound.

Hayden Insurance Services began offering marine insurance coverage to the yachting community in 1989.
