Hipp Marine to Close Newport Beach Location

NEWPORT BEACH – Hipp Marine, the lone Bayliner dealer in Orange County, is in the process of shuttering its Newport Beach store. The storefront located on Coast Highway will close its doors on Saturday, March 29.

The family owned  boat dealership has operated from its Newport Beach storefront since January 2008. Situated on a property owned by Ardell Yachts, Hipp Marine has had a longstanding presence in the seaside community selling new and used boats to local vessel owners.

“We are only closing the Newport store,” said Hipp Marine owner Rick Hipp. “We will maintain the San Diego store and all that we do there. But, yes, we are closing the Newport store.”

Hipp reported that the store was losing too much money and ultimately the decision was made to shutter the store that employed seven staff members. Employees were working to fulfill customers’ orders at press time.

Located at 2200 West Coast Highway on Mariner’s Mile, the Newport Beach story served as the authorized dealer for Bayliner, Harris FloteBote Pontoons, Defiance and Trophy Salt Water Fish Boats.

These boat lines will now be maintained from the San Diego location.

“Only the Newport location is closing; Bayliner is not going anywhere,” Hipp said.

Hipp Marine is the factory authorized dealer for Sea Ray Boats, Trophy Salt water Fish Boats, Lowe Fishing Boats, Harris FloteBote Pontoons, Defiance and Bayliner.
