Newport Harbor Cruising Guide Booklet Updated

NEWPORT BEACH — Newport Beach Harbor Commission member Doug West got to show off a newly completed project at the April meeting, bringing a copy of the updated Newport Harbor Guide.

“We made something that we can see: It’s good to have something to show for our work sometimes,” said West, who worked as editor and project manager for the guide.

First published two years ago, the “Complete Cruising Guide to Newport Harbor” got a facelift this year. It also includes new welcome messages from Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol Lt. Tom Slayton and Newport Beach Mayor Nancy Gardner.

Also included is a more user-friendly fold-out map and chart of the harbor — giving information on the harbor’s public dock facilities, mooring and anchorage locations, marine service locations, fuel docks and more. Boaters looking for restaurants with dock-and-dine options can utilize an updated list showing eight locations in the harbor where boaters can tie up and enjoy a meal.

The guide is published by the Harbor Commission to distribute to boaters and the public, promoting Newport Harbor as a welcoming destination for visiting boaters. The printed version of the guide is distributed at yacht clubs, boating groups and sailing associations, and at marine stores and facilities up and down the coast from Santa Barbara to San Diego.

In addition to the 14-page printed version, the guide is also available for download at the city of Newport Beach’s website here.
