Oceanside Harbor Days kicks off Sept. 24
OCEANSIDE – Aspiring boat builders can test their skills during the popular Nail ‘n’ Sail Competition scheduled during Oceanside Harbor Days, which paddles into town Sept. 24-25.
The city of Oceanside will celebrate the harbor and everything maritime during the annual festival that features arts and craft vendors, kids activities, live entertainment and public safety displays. A Pirate Village, Entertainment Stage, Beer Garden, and Military personnel will also be onsite.
A fishing derby will be held at the harbor’s fishing pier on Sept. 24. The annual Tiki Swim Marathon begins at 7:30 a.m., Sept. 25 followed by the Nail ‘n’ Sail boat-building competition at 10:30 a.m.
Applications for the Nail ‘n’ Sail contest, where no more than 24 participants can sign up to build a vessel using materials provided them the day of the race, can be found online at tinyurl.com/j3f3l6w. Two team members from each team will race their self-made boat in the harbor later in the day.
Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, the Tri-City Medical Center and Genentech present the two-day event.
Oceanside Harbor Days is scheduled for 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Sept. 24 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sept. 25 at Oceanside Harbor. For more information, visit oceansidechamber.com.
