Port of SD hosts Clean and Green Boating Expo, April 9

SAN DIEGO — Boaters are invited to learn more about how they can be environmental stewards to San Diego Bay during the Port of San Diego’s Clean and Green Boating Expo scheduled for April 9.

The free event provides San Diego boaters with information on how they can reduce their environmental impact when they use and care for their boat.

Guests can learn about cutting edge boating practices that help the environment and ask questions of vendors and exhibitors who will be onsite to provide information about the latest services and products being offered. 

Boaters will find out about trial offers, giveaways and service programs available to them. The Clean and Green Boating Expo will also have a variety of exhibitors ranging from boat industry professionals, to environmental organizations, and the State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways, the Port of San Diego and many more . 

The family-friendly event features special presentations, boat demonstrations, and touch tanks by the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market and Scripps Institute of Oceanography, along with face painting for kids. 

Since 2011, the port has hosted six expos for boaters with previous events focused on promoting non-copper hull paints to reduce copper levels in the bay.

The Port of San Diego’s Clean and Green Boating Expo will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., April 9 at Driscoll Boat Works, 2500 Shelter Island Drive in San Diego.
