Viewing platform set to open on North Embarcadero Spring 2016

SAN DIEGO — As part of the Port of San Diego’s efforts to promote a vibrant and active waterfront and enhance the San Diego Bayfront, the port will convert a 2,400-square-foot concrete platform into a viewing platform to complement the recent improvements in the area. The Board of Port Commissioners approved a resolution awarding a contract for the project at its Oct. 6 meeting.

“The San Diego Bay waterfront is truly world-class, and the creation of a viewing platform will add even more color and excitement to an already spectacular destination,” said Chairman Dan Malcolm of the Board of Port Commissioners. “Combined with the recent improvements to the North Embarcadero waterfront, this will be a signature spot – the perfect place to enjoy the view of cruise ships, sailboats or a sun set. It’s one more unique amenity to draw visitors, engage local residents, and enliven our ‘front porch’ to the bay.”

The concrete platform is located between Broadway Pier and B Street Pier on North Harbor Drive.
