Young man accused of stealing yacht

A 24-year-old man was charged with grand theft, resisting police, felony vandalism and DUI after attempting to steal a yacht in Newport Beach, according to news reports.

Theodore Liko Wilson, a Costa Mesa resident, was accused of commandeering a yacht, reportedly worth $1 million, and navigating it through Newport Beach Harbor during the final day of Newport Beach’s annual Christmas boat parade. Wilson was also accused of evading Newport Beach Police and deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department before being arrested.

The yacht, a 70-footer named Gambler, reportedly belonged to Dick Peckham.

Wilson reportedly pleaded guilty to three felonies and six misdemeanors, in all. He was due back in court in early January, according to the Los Angeles Times.
