Save SoCal Sportfishing: Act NOW to Support MLPA Proposal 2

On Dec. 9, the California Fish and Game Commission will hear the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Blue Ribbon Task Force present its own recommendation for fishing closures in prime sportfishing areas along the Southern California coast and the Channel Islands. Their decision will have a direct impact on the fishing you will be allowed to do -- from now on.

While a coalition of sport anglers, recreational boating and fishing groups, coastal communities, harbormasters and other locals came together and met for almost a year to create MLPA Proposal 2 -- providing both ample conservation areas and fishing areas -- the Blue Ribbon Task Force rejected the plan in favor of more restrictive no-take zones.

However, the final decision is up to the Fish and Game Commission -- and this is where every angler and boater can make a difference. Make YOUR voice heard by sending an e-mail NOW, to ensure that the commission acts to represent the needs and wants of sport anglers and boaters -- and not just environmental activists who seek a major curtailment of fishing in the entire region.
