As reported in the last issue, Brandy Marine International of Sarasota, Florida, will be managing and operating the new Marina Papagayo in northern Costa Rica after it opens this winter, but this company is not the builder. The new full-service marina is associated with the Four Seasons resort nearby, part of the Papagayo Peninsula development at Bahia Culebra.

Much to Explore — Visiting boaters to Costa Rica can enjoy pristine beaches surrounded by jungle hills.

Farther south, yatistas cruising the Nicoya Gulf should allow more time to provision, obtain parts and meet international flights at San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. The two-lane mountain highway linking Puntarenas and Los Sueños Marina to the country’s interior is being widened, and several tunnels are being excavated. Officials say to expect 2- to 5-hour delays for the next two years.
