LBYC hosts 2015 Racing Rules of Sailing Seminar Series

LONG BEACH – Racers are invited to join featured speaker, U.S. Sailing Judge, Pro, Coach and Racing Tactician Randy Smith, for three evenings of practical rules discussions beginning in January.

Long Beach Yacht Club will host the 2015 Racing Rules of Sailing Seminar Series scheduled for 7 p.m., Jan. 14, March 11 and May 6 at the club located at 6201 E. Appian Way in Long Beach.

Presented by Ullman Sails, the discussions are designed to inform racers and help them have more fun on the race course. The seminar will include tips on how to sail around a crowded one-design race course, learning the rules, discovering situations to avoid, learning a few simple tricks to control bad situations before they happen and gaining the confidence to go into that “street fight” boat-on-boat situation when trying to win a regatta in the last race.

The first two sessions will go into greater detail and include a question and answer session. The third program will be specific to the Long Beach YC Wet Wednesday Series.

All programs are on Wednesday evenings. Ullman Sails will provide raffle prizes, light appetizers and a no-host bar.
