Mission Bay Yacht Club hosts Robert Anderson series, Dec. 10

San Diego race will be third stop on interscholastic sailing competitions.

SAN DIEGO — The current SoCal Series for the Robert Anderson Trophy makes its third stop in San Diego, as Mission Bay Yacht Club will host the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association (PCISA) and SoCal League competition, Dec. 10. The sailing series pits high school students against each other in regatta format.

Student sailors have already competed in regattas at Newport Harbor Yacht Club (Sept. 16) and Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club (Nov. 4).

The series heads to Long Beach – Alamitos Bay Yacht Club, Feb. 3-4, 2018 – before concluding at San Diego Yacht Club, March 24-25, 2018.

Competing teams must include two sailors from the same school and provide their own class legal CFJ, including sails and rigging.

Onsite boat registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by a coaches and competitor’s meeting at 10 a.m. First warning is given at 11 a.m. An awards ceremony is held at 5 p.m. (or as soon as possible after racing). The entry fee is $30 per boat, per regatta.

All registrations must be submitted by 5 p.m., Dec. 7.

The top five finishers in either of the regatta’s two fleets will be honored with an award, according to organizers.

The Robert Anderson Trophy will be awarded to the top series finisher (Gold Fleet only).
