ON THE RADAR: Top U.S. match racers battle for top spot

Balboa Yacht Club will host the U.S. Youth Match Racing Championship for the Rose Cup, June 17-21. Twelve teams of racers between the ages of 16-21 will compete in Governor’s Cup 21 boats. U.S. Match Racing Champion and Congressional Cup winner Dave Perry will lead an intensive match racing clinic the first two days of the event. Racing begins June 19 and continues June 20 with round robin races. Semi-final races based on round robin finishes will begin as early as the afternoon of June 20.
Races can be viewed from the beach or from one of the spectator boats. The top three teams will be invited to Balboa YC’s 49th annual Governor’s Cup scheduled from July 20-25, racing in the same Governor’s Cup 21 sloops.
