I have read, in your column and elsewhere, that I should consider purchasing a title insurance policy when buying a yacht. However, when I looked into this recently, I was unable to find a marine title insurance policy offered by any insurance carrier. I was able to find quite a few marine title companies, but they do not appear to actually offer marine title insurance. If this insurance is no longer available, what are the risks in proceeding without title insurance — and what can I do to protect myself from those risks?
