AVALON — The city’s Recreation Department has scheduled Dec. 18 as a day of holiday fun for locals, boaters and their families — with a pancake breakfast and a Tour of Lights to benefit Catalina Kid Ventures.

The pancake breakfast is planned from 9-11 a.m. at Antonio’s Pizzeria and Cabaret, 230 Crescent Ave. After filling up on pancakes, kids can take photos with Santa and receive a gift bag.

Later, participants will hop on a bus at Wrigley Park and check out the town’s holiday decorations and lights. The Tour of Lights is scheduled from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

While on the bus, participants can sing holiday carols and sip hot chocolate. Each tour is expected to last 20 minutes, and the cost is $5. According to recreation director Sean Brannock, this annual event has raised about $1,200 in the past for Kid Ventures.

At 6 p.m., participants can bring a chair and a blanket to the beach and cap off the evening by watching a free holiday-theme movie.

Brannock said he looks forward to the events, because it is “a great way to promote community spirit.”
