Conservancy Hosts Second BZ Jones Cross Catalina Hike

Byline: The Log Staff

SANTA CATALINA ISLAND — Hikers are invited to explore the island and get their fill of its incredible scenic vistas during the second annual BZ Jones Cross Catalina Hike on March 16.

Hosted by the Marineros, a Catalina Island Conservancy support group, the trek takes walkers from Ben Weston Beach to Whites Landing. The 11-mile course allows outdoor aficionados to get plenty of exercise while seeing another side of the island.

Many native and plants endemic to the island will be in bloom during the spring hike, which will take hikers from the widest part of Ben Weston Beach to Whites Landing. Rest stops and lunch breaks will be taken at the historic Bosky Dell and Blackjack Camp along the way.

The hike is named for the late Graham “BZ” Jones, an offshore sailor and adventurer who was a supporter of the Catalina Island Conservancy.

Register for the hike at catalinaconservancy.org.
