Halloween Activities Set for Avalon
AVALON — Catalina’s annual Halloween Costume Parade is scheduled in Avalon on Halloween Night, Oct. 31. Visiting boaters are invited to dress in costume and join in the fun.
At 4 p.m., parade participants can parade in their favorite spooky costumes and join Catalina Island schoolchildren and other residents for a festive parade down Crescent Avenue.

Also on Halloween day, the Chamber of Commerce will host the Rotary Halloween Bash and Auction at 6:30 p.m. at M Restaurant. Prizes will be awarded to the most be-witching costumes. Guests can bid on silent and live auction items as they dance along to live music and are amazed by a magician. Tickets are $45 per person. Contact the chamber for information.

A few days earlier on Oct. 25, boaters can enjoy Oktoberfest on the Beach. Scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on South Beach, the island’s first annual Oktoberfest on the Beach will feature unlimited beer tastings, souvenir glass beer stein, musical entertainment from the German Zeitgeist Band, appetizers and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event benefit island youth charities. The event is sponsored by the city of Avalon and local service clubs. Tickets are $60 per person.
