Homes Sought for Three Catalina ‘Boat Cats’

AVALON — The Catalina Island Humane Society is looking for boaters to adopt three “boat-ready” cats, formerly owned by longtime Two Harbors resident boater Ray Smith, who died recently. Smith was sometimes known as “The Cat Guy,” for taking care of felines on Catalina Island’s West End.

His three cats are comfortable aboard boats and are experienced seagoing felines. Misty is a shy, but affectionate 2-year-old Russian Blue; Rocky is a 3-year-old classic “Cheshire cat,” with a grin and a short tail; and Precious is a friendly and outgoing 8-year-old tabby.

All three healthy cats are neutered, have their shots and are ready to adopt. Transportation from the island can be arranged.

Contact the Catalina Island Humane Society at (310) 510-1900 or visit catalinahumane.org.
