Dana Point Harbor
July 4 • 11:19 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers assisted a male kayaker near San Juan Rock.
July 6 • 4:56 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a boat that was reportedly sinking near the 1-mile marker off Dana Point Harbor.

Newport Harbor
July 6 • 11:12 a.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers towed a 30-foot sailboat back to Rhine Channel.
July 6 • 2:03 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a 30-foot boat to Island Marine Fuel, where it was jump started.
July 8 • 12:07 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers towed a small dinghy that was adrift without power, to the Fun Zone.

VENTURA COUNTY

Ventura Harbor
July 2 • 12:50 p.m. Ventura Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a small amount of gasoline spilled from a vessel at a dry storage facility. Harbor Patrol officers responded and investigated the spill. Ventura Fire Department personnel stated that the owner could clean up the spill safely.
July 2 • 2 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a vessel accident in a slip at Ventura West Marina. Officers responded and, according to their report, found that the vessel had entered the wrong fairway and had gotten in a tough spot. The boat reportedly collided with a dock, resulting in minor damage. Officers reported the boat also collided with a sailboat, but no damage resulted.
July 6 • 3:15 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a capsized sailboat near Ventura West Marina’s A-dock. Officers responded and righted the vessel.
July 7 • 3:41 p.m. A small catamaran was reported capsized just outside the south jetty. Harbor Patrol officers responded, assisted in righting the vessel and then released it. The boat cruised away, under its own power.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY

Santa Barbara Harbor
June 27 • 6:55 a.m. Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a sunken vessel at the seasonal anchorage. Officers discovered the boat approximately 500 feet east of Stearns Wharf in 22 feet of water, with only its flybridge above the waterline. According to reports, officers observed a multicolored sheen emanating from the vessel. Coast Guard, Fish and Wildlife. and National Response Center personnel were notified, in regard to a possible pollution issue. The vessel was salvaged the following day and hauled out by a local boatyard.
July 5 • 12:40 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded on foot to a report at a local chandlery that a subject had locked himself in a dressing room for more than 30 minutes. Officers reportedly discovered a homeless man, who said he had been sleeping in the dressing room and was about to leave the store. Officers detained him on suspicion of shoplifting. After officers confirmed that nothing was missing from the store, they gave the subject a verbal warning about penalties for trespassing, and the man left the area.
July 9 • 5:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers observed a white skiff underway near the #10 channel marker, with one adult and three young girls on board who were not wearing PFDs. Officers contacted the boat’s adult operator and asked her the age of the younger girls. The operator replied, “6, 7 and 9.” The boat’s operator had no PFDs aboard the vessel and reportedly stated she had left them ashore. The boat’s operator was issued a citation for the PFD violations and the vessel was escorted back to shore.
