ORANGE COUNTY

Dana Point Harbor

Feb. 21 • 3:05 p.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a 42-foot sailboat in the surf line off Cotton Point, outside San Clemente. State and city lifeguards advised that the boat was aground with two people aboard. Harbor Patrol officers pulled the boat off the beach. According to police reports, the vessel was impounded and the operator was arrested on charges of boating under the influence and transported by state lifeguards to San Diego County Jail.

Newport Harbor

Feb. 22 • 4:12 p.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report of an electric boat aground near a bridge north of Pacific Coast Highway with one person in the water. Officers were able to assist and pull the boat out.

Feb. 18 • 11:28 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received reports of three vessels on moorings that had sea lions aboard. The owners of the first two vessels were notified and said they would take action to prevent future sea lion boardings. On the third vessel, a two-masted sailboat, sea lions had evidently vacated the boat before officers arrived on the scene.

Sunset/Huntington Harbour

Feb. 18 • 1:49 p.m. Orange County Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a possible floating marijuana bale adrift 100 feet up the coast from the Huntington Beach Pier. A report was made to Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles personnel.

Feb. 21 • 7:36 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a 34-foot powerboat sinking, with the swim step underwater and 2 feet of water inside the cabin. Officers pumped out the vessel, a mechanic was contacted and Vessel Assist later towed the vessel.

VENTURA COUNTY

Ventura Harbor

Feb. 14 • 7:45 a.m. Ventura Harbor Patrol officers found a vessel drifting away from its slip at Ventura Harbor Village, after it had been secured only with one line. Officers re-secured it.

Feb. 14 • 10:20 a.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a large object in the water by the launch ramp. Officers determined it was a large tub and were able to right it. The dewatered the tub and disposed of it at the launch ramp.

Feb. 17 • 12:36 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a vessel aground at the entrance to the Sand Trap. They discovered that a 24-foot outdrive vessel had run aground south of the North Jetty extension. Officers towed the vessel off the shoal. After checking the well-being of the vessel, the owner said he found no damage and continued his voyage.

Channel Islands Harbor

Feb. 3 • 9:20 p.m. Channel Islands Harbor Patrol officers observed a disabled 21-foot powerboat in the east channel. The vessel was taken in tow and released at the launch ramp.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY

Santa Barbara Harbor

Feb. 14 • Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol officers responded to a report of a woman camping in the locked Marina 3 restrooms. Upon arrival, officers found both a man and a woman in the women’s shower stall with bikes and other personal items, but neither was showering. They were not affiliated with a boat in the harbor, and they were issued citations for unauthorized entry.
