Jan. 12 • 2:36 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report that two kayaks were stolen from the Youth & Group docks the day before. One of the kayaks was left adrift nearby and picked up by the reporting person.
Jan. 11 • 6:55 p.m. Harbor Patrol assisted an outside agency to catch and detail an escapee from home detention.
Jan. 11 • 2:18 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report of a fully clothed woman attempting to swim after man on a boogie board.
Jan. 9 • 12:25 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report of a fuel spill at East Basin Cove from C dock to F dock. The informant believed the source of the spill was a vessel in C-1.
Newport Harbor
Jan. 11 • 4:27 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report that a sea lion was wrapped in bungee cord on the swim step of a docked vessel docked at a house on J street.
Jan. 2 • 4:29 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report that nine women aboard a pontoon with 415 guests, were throwing bottles into the water and urinating over the side of the boat. The skipper was also reported as driving recklessly. Sunset Beach/ Huntington Harbour.
Jan. 7 • 1:28 p.m. Harbor Patrol assisted an outside agency in Area 2, looking for a vessel of an owner wanted for felony.
LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Marina del Rey
Jan. 4 • 3 p.m. Marina del Rey patrol received a report that a vessel two miles out from the harbor was lost in the fog. The vessel was located and escorted to the docks. Channel Islands Harbor
Jan. 3 • 5:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol Officers responded to an explosion, which became a fully involved boat fire at Anacapa Isle Marina along with Engine and Rescue 66, Coast Guard Channel Islands, Harbor Patrol Fire Boat 5, Ventura Harbor Patrol Fire Boat, County Engine 53 and Fish and Game. The fire was extinguished and then dewatered. Vessel Assist placed floats under the vessel to stabilize it and then towed it to the Boat Yard to be hauled out, escorted by Harbor Patrol Fire Boat 5.
Jan. 2 • 2:35 p.m. Patrol received a report of a personal water craft taking on water at Hobie Beach. Patrol dewatered the vessel and towed back it back to its slip.
Dec. 18 • 1:45 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report of a boat that was over due from its voyage. The boat was located in the east channel of the harbor out of fuel. Harbor Patrol towed the boat to the temporary launch ramp.
Dec. 14 • 7:45 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report of a vessel accident between a disabled electric boat and a moored boat. An accident report was taken. The disabled electric boat was towed by Harbor Patrol back to its slip.
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
Santa Barbara Harbor
Jan. 3 • 12:30 p.m. Harbor Patrol received a report from a boat rental company that they had picked up a nude woman swimming offshore. While the vessel was pulling up to the dock with the woman she began screaming and acting odd. She was evaluated by medics for hypothermia and mental health issues.
Dec. 25 • 2:45 p.m. Harbor Patrol Officers received a report from a local lobster fisherman that someone was stealing lobsters from his receivers.
Dec. 1 • 4:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers provided first aid to a man who dislocated his shoulder attempting to salvage a skiff that had gone aground. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Dec. 2 • 12:20 p.m. Harbor Patrol officers received a report of a vessel sinking in its slip at Marina 3. The vessel was low in the water, and officers reportedly could see though a porthole that a significant amount of water had accumulated inside the cabin. Officers cut a lock to the cabin and observed one foot of water above the floorboards. Harbor Patrol officers pumped more than 500 gallons of water out of the interior of the vessel. The boat’s owner was notified to handle the remainder of the cleanup.
Nov. 26 • 1:10 p.m. Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol Officers assisted Animal Control officers in removing a dog from an anchored sailboat at the year-round anchorage. The owner, who reportedly is in Hawaii, had been away from his boat for several weeks, and his return date was unknown. Animal Control officers removed the dog from the cabin with a snare. The vessel’s deck was reportedly covered with animal feces and urine. The dog was transported to a local animal shelter for care.
