1973: Anchoring ban protest urged
In the first archived copy of the San Diego Log, an August 1973 story reported that further restrictions on boating had been imposed by the Unified Port District of weekend anchoring in Harbor Island Lagoon.
Harbor Police posted an Anchoring Prohibited sign prior to the boating season, angering many in the boating community. “The port’s action puts a further squeeze on an already over restricted anchorage situation in San Diego Bay …,” the story read.
The restriction left Glorietta Bay as the bay’s lone anchoring spot.
