1979: Dana Point opens new guest slips

A total of 42 guest slips were completed in June 1978, according to a San Diego Log article. The Orange County Board of Supervisors raised the rate for transient boaters in July 1977 to $10 per night for boats under 25 feet in length to 40 cents per-foot per-night for larger boats.
According to the story, the higher rates “discouraged many boat owners form stopping at Dana Point as they cruise up and down the coast.”
