2015 Special Olympics USA Team visits ExplorOcean

NEWPORT BEACH – On July 23, ExplorOcean, a nonprofit cultural institution, hosted the entire 500 strong Special Olympics USA Team at their waterfront site.
The competitors enjoyed a tour of the harbor, a day at the beach and participated in hands-on ocean related activities and experiments. Later, they enjoyed a dinner at Peninsula Park.
The Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles was held July 25 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum attended by First Lady Michelle Obama and many more.
Newport Beach Mayor Ed Selich and Mayor Pro Tem Diane Dixon welcomed the team at dinner along with Tom Pollack the president/CEO of ExplorOcean.
