Avalon to hold City Council election in April 2018

The city of Avalon announced it would hold City Council elections for three (of five) seats, April 10, 2018. Members of the five-seat council have consistently deliberated harbor-related issues over the years. Finding a vendor to complete Fuel Dock Café was the most recent waterfront agenda item to challenge council members.

The seats of Mayor Ann Marshall and Council members Joe Sampson and Cinde MacGugan-Cassidy are up for a vote in the spring election. No one has announced his or her respective candidacies for any of the open council seats, according to a news report.

Avalon’s mayor serves for two years while council members are elected to serve four-year terms.
