Catalina re-opens hotels, tours, dining and camping

AVALON—The Catalina Island Co. announced many of the island’s venues are re-opening, with visitors being allowed to patronize campgrounds, hotels, restaurants and private tours. Properties now open include Pavilion Hotel, Banning House Lodge & Villas, Descanso Beach Club, Zip Line Eco Tour and five campgrounds.

Mt. Ada and Hotel Atwater will both re-open on June 26, Catalina Island Co. staff announced.

“Now that leisure travel is permitted in California, many experts predict that people will largely seek to visit domestic destinations closer to home because of new health and economic preferences,” Catalina Island Co. staff said in a released statement. “Renowned for its wide-open spaces, natural scenery, pristine beaches and unique terrain, Catalina Island is a dream destination that offers organic opportunities for social distancing.”

The following Catalina Island Co. properties are offering special deals and packages for visitors who shuttle across the channel and visit Avalon or Two Harbors:

  • Pavilion Hotel’s “Boat’s on Us” package, for a limited time – roundtrip transportation aboard Catalina Express or Catalina Flyer, with mid-week stays of two nights or more; and
  • Descanso Beach Club, also for a limited time – enjoy a “Catalina Unquarantini,” which is made with vodka, Aperol and fresh citrus juices.
