Classic Yachts Return to Marina del Rey’s Old Fashioned Day

MARINA DEL REY – The spotlight will be on classic yachts and vintage automobiles at the 38th annual Old Fashioned Day in the Park, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 27 at Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way. The event is sponsored by the Classic Yacht Association and the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, and admission is free.

Enjoy classic yachts and vintage cars from the first half of the 20th century as they gather at the park offering a glimpse of the past. Event-goers can get a taste of what boating was like in the good old days, boarding vintage yachts dating back to the 1920s, In addition, a wide array of restored classic cars — including woodies, Model As, T-Birds and more — will be on display, along with vintage steam-powered farm equipment, a steam launch and other items.

“We love to share our passion for these American treasures,” said Christine Rohde, former commodore of the International Association, and coordinator of this event.

The beautifully restored 1929 48 foot yacht Ono built by Dawn, will be on display, as will Rohde’s 1950 Chris Craft Catalina, Sparkle.

Restored yachts built by Stephens Bros., Ed Monk, Sr., Fellows and Stewart, Chris Craft , Dawn, Elco and more will be open for boarding.
