Dana Point Boaters Advised to Watch for Shoal Buoys

DANA POINT — OC Dana Point Harbor staff has advised boaters to keep an eye out for additional shoal buoys recently placed in the harbor, to mark the growing sandy shoal on the west breakwater.
Harbor users are warned to use caution when transiting the outer channel in the proximity of the shoal, and give it a wide berth.
The shoal has begun to extend farther to the east, toward the harbor entrance. OC Dana Point Harbor staff installed the additional buoys after noticing increased shoaling during its monthly harbor documentation.
“OC Dana Point Harbor, working with the Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol, will continue to monitor the shoaling and adjust the buoys as necessary,” said OC Dana Point Harbor director Brad Gross.
