Kid’s Day offers aquatic adventures to children with special needs and their family members

LONG BEACH — CSR Children’s Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, sponsors the 24th annual Kid’s Day; more than 800 special needs children (and their families) look forward to this event each year.

Children with physical and mental disabilities will get the chance to participate in an array of aquatic sports from speedboating, inner-tube rides, jet skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking and more.

The event is held July 13 at Marine Stadium in Long Beach; there will be a beach BBQ and other forms of entertainment such as face painting.

More than two decades ago, in 1994, The Long Beach Boat and Ski Club created Kid’s Day with the intention to give back to the community. Now operated by CSR Children’s Foundation, Inc., organizers work with local hospitals, caregivers and other non-profit agencies to create a special experience for disabled children and their family members.

On the official website, it states, “Kid’s Day provides an escape for these families from the challenges that they endure daily caring for a child with special needs. For many of these children this is a chance to get out of a hospital bed in exchange for a day on the beach with their families.”

Attendance at Kid’s Day is free. Marine Stadium is located at 5255 Paoli Way in Long Beach.
