SAN DIEGO — A veteran Los Angeles police lieutenant has been appointed to the Port of San Diego Harbor Police’s newly created position of assistant harbor police chief.

Harbor Police Chief John Bolduc announced the appointment of Mark Stainbrook Oct. 17. The lieutenant currently heads the Anti-Terrorism Intelligence Section at the Los Angeles Police Department.

“He brings to the Harbor Police a wealth of experience in leadership, anti-terrorism, homeland security, patrol, special operations and community outreach,” Bolduc said.

Stainbrook is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and is a Fulbright Fellow from Leeds University in London. He also has a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Long Beach. Stainbrook will be sworn into the position at a Harbor Police ceremony Nov. 18.

The San Diego Harbor Police Department is the law enforcement arm of the Port of San Diego and has more than 130 sworn officers — all trained as firefighters and police officers. The jurisdiction of the Harbor Police includes San Diego Bay, San Diego International Airport and the tidelands of San Diego, Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach and National City.
